King, Mrs. Debbie (English 7-8)
Welcome To Room 14!
Welcome to a new and exciting year in Jr. High. If you are a returning parent to the Jr. High, welcome back. If you are a new parent to Jr. High, hold on because it will be an exciting year for you and your child.
I am Mrs. Debbie King and this is my tenth year at St. Michael’s. I have experience in teaching all the grade levels, from Kindergarten to high school. My favorite level is the Jr. High. I have a son who will be turning twenty-three this year and graduating from Eastern Illinois University with an education degree. I truly believe that I know what goes on in the minds of my students because of Matt. I am very excited about my class and what we will be experiencing this year. It will truly be fun and fulfilling.
One of the subjects that I teach is Grammar. Our Grammar book is Writer’s Choice. I am very excited about this book. The eighth grade will be studying at the ninth grade level, and the seventh will be studying at the eighth grade level. This will prove to be challenging to the students, but I know they can accomplish a great deal.
In addition to Grammar, I also teach Literature. Language in Literature will be our main source of reading. A number of novels will be read throughout the year. The very popular novels The Outsiders and That Was Then, This Is Now, both by S.E. Hinton, will be read by the seventh and eighth grade respectively. Additional novels will be announced during the year. More information regarding both subjects was explained extensively in the syllabus that was sent home the first week of school which required a parent signature.
If you have any questions, please ask me. Again welcome to Jr. High and Room 14.
