  • Monday, January 9th - No Homework
  • Tuesday, January 10th - 8:00 Mass
  • Wednesday, January 11th - Discussed what PEACE meant to the students. Reviewed some favorite quotes discussing PEACE.
  • Thursday, January 12th - Continued with our discussion on PEACE and how WE need to live the quote that our class has chosen; not just pretend to live it.
  • Friday, January 13th - Assisted Pre-School with a project.
  • NEED A TWO POCKET FOLDER FOR TUESDAY. TRHE STUDENTS WILL BE STARTING THEIR CONFIRMATION STUDIES.
  • Tuesday, January 17th - 8:00 Mass
  • Wednesday, January, 18th - Introduced Confirmation instruction. Read a letter inviting the students to join the Church. Decided on a commitment for Confimation.
  • Thursday, January 19th - Discusses saint paper. Also worked on an activity dealing with what type of groups we belong to and how/why we joined these groups.
  • Friday, January 20th - Discussed the responsibilities that are needed in order to be successful in a group.
  • Monday, January 23rd. - Learned a little bit about each other and how we can add our input to a group.
  • Tuesday, January 24th - 8:00 Mass
  • Wednesday, January 25th - No Homework
  • Thursday, January 26th - Discussed the importance of groups and what they and we can bring to them.
  • Friday, January 27th - No Homework
  • Monday, January 30th - Read pages 4 and 5 on Booklet One of Confirmation.
  • Tuesday, January 31st - 8:00 Mass. Also discussed the Sacraments of Initiation.
  • Wednesday, February 1st - Worked on an acitivity that helped the students explore what they have all ready accomplished and what they would like to accomplish in the future..like 2024 in the future!!
  • Thursday, February 2nd - Took three of the accomplishments dsicussed on Wednesday and explained wht they really mean to us. Quiz over Booklet One will be Friday.
  • Friday, February 3rd. - Took quiz on Booklet One for Confirmation

English/Literature 8th Grade: 

  • Tuesday, January 17th - Began new novel....The Hunger Games. Introduced the characters and their background. Discussed setting and the theme of this novel. Assignment: Vocabulary for the first three chapters, assigned each student a specific word to be used to complete a "Word Map." Chapters 1, 2, and 3 are due by Wednesday. If you have missed the first set of questions you must receive a copy from Mrs. King.
  • Wednesday, January 18th - The Hunger Games. There is no new assignment. Chapters 1, 2, and 3 need to be read and all the questions need to be answered by Thursday. All infromation is above under Tuesday's entry.
  • Thursday, January 19th - The Hunger Games. The students will write about a time when they used humor to conceal their true feelings as Kat and Gale do when they talk about the Hunger Games.The students will read the next three chapters; 4, 5, and 6. A new vocabulary Word Map  for these chapters. Discuss questions will be posted on the Smart Board to be completed. AimsWeb testing will also be completed.
  • Friday, January 20th - Same assignment as Thursday. All questions and two word maps need to be completed. Thank you for your cooperation during AimsWeb testing.
  • Monday, January 23rd - The Hunger Games. Class discussion on the first six chapters. When did you use humor in a difficult situation? How does physical appearences play a role in the Games? Start a  character web based on Katniss. This will be on going activity. Continue with chapters 7, 8, and 9; vocabulary and questions. If you missed any work from the beginning of this book you need to see me for the information.
  • Tuesday, January 24th - First, questions from chapters 7, 8, and 9 are to be completed by tomorrow along with the third word map. You have had two days to complete this assignment. Second, the assignment of TWO Bio-Poems was given. The first Bio-Poem is to be done for Katniss and written in your journal. The second needs to written about YOU on a piece of computer paper and attached to a piece of construction paper which was given in class.  If you have missed this assignment you must see me.
  • Wednesday,January 25th - Took quiz on part one of The Hunger Game. Journals were checked. Very disappointing. Katniss' Character Web needs to be started. At least two entires for each catagory. Those are: 1) Her statements, 2) Her behavior, 3) Her thoughts, 4) Others' statements about her, 5) Others' statements to her, and 6) Other's behavior toward her. This activity goes in your journal and is ongoing until the end of the book. If Bio-Poem is not completed that needs to be done. Two poems are required for this activity; one on Katniss (place in journal) and one on you (on computer paper attached to construction paper). NO new reading assignment was given for today.
  • Thursday, Janaury 26th - Worked on a "Survival Guide" activity. Went over the quiz from Part One. Assignment: begin reading Part Two, chapter 10, 11, and 12. Will give reading time in class, along with fourth "Word Map", and discussion questions. 
  • Friday, January 27th - The Hunger Games. Students will begin reading the next part of this book. Chapters 10, 11, and 12, the fourth Word Map, and discuss questions must be completed for Monday.If you missed receiving the last set of questions you must ask for a copy.
  • Monday, January 30th - Discussed the events that happened in the last three chapters. What was her reaction to Peeta and who he had joined. The students must continue with their character webs of Katniss. Assignment: Read chapters 13, 14, and 15. Discuss questions and fifth Word Map. This will by due Wednesday.
  • Tuesday, Janaury 31st - Gave class time to read chapters 13, 14 and 15, to work on the fifth Word Map,  and complete questions.
  • Wednesday, February 1st - All classes were able to get caught up with class discussion about The Hunger Games. No additional reading will be assigned for today. We will contniue with the novel on Thursday.
  • Thursday, February 2nd - Worked on reading journals. Missed one class due to First Grade partner activity.  May read chapter 16 in The Hunger Games.
  • Friday, February 3rd. - The Hunger Games. Students will begin reading the next part of this book. Chapters 16, 17 and 18, the sixth Word Map, and discussion questions must be completed for Monday. The following are the questions for these chapters: 1) Compare/contrast Katniss and Rue's alliance to the Career's alliance., 2) Why does losing her hearing in one ear frighten Katniss? How does she compensate for the loss?, 3) What does Rue's death reveal toKatniss? Why didn't Katniss realize this sooner?, 4) What does the young mockingjay's song tell Katniss?, 5) Why does Katniss carefully thank District 11 for the loaf of bread? How do you think cictzens in the districts react to this first-ever gift between districts?, 6) Why does Katniss feel that her vow to Rue is more important than her vow to Prim?, 7) Compare/Contrast Prim and Rue? What effect does Katniss have on both girls?, 8) After Rue's death, who are the surviving tributes and what districts are they from? What do you know about each tribute., 9) How is killing the boy from District 1 different that Katniss' other "kills"? Does Katniss feel guilty? How do you think Katniss would feel if she had killed Foxface at the explosion site?, 10) Which tributes benefit from the rule change? What do you think is the TV audience's reaction to the new rule? 

English/Literature 7th Grade

  • Monday, January 23rd. - Thank You Ma'am. The students discussed how a "village can raise or teach a child". We discussed how people use to be able to discipline young when they would do something wrong. SQ3R the story. 1 question for the title, 1 question each for the pictures (p. 149, 150, and 151), 2 questions for the introduction. There are five vocabulary words; write the word, the definition, and then a complex sentence for each word, highlighting the vocabualry word. We will read the story tomorrow in class.
  • Tuesday, January 24th - Read the story Thank You Ma'am. Discussed the conflicts for each of the characters. Complete the study guide.
  • Wednesday, January 25th - Corrected study guide and reviewed for test. Study for test on Thank You Ma'am.
  • Thursday, January 26th - No Homework. Took test on Thank You Ma'am.
  • Friday, January 27th - Novel Friday. No Homework
  • Monday, January 30th - No Homework. No class today due to a presentation from Congressman Lipinski.
  • Tuesday, Janaury 31st - The seventh grade classes worked on an activity that will asist in retrieving important information from a pasage and place that information in a timeline. In addition, they will complete a short essay question that will help with applying factual infromation to personal experience. No homework
  • Wednesday, February 1st  and Thursday, February 2nd. - No homework.
  • Friday, February 3rd. - Completed an activity that will assit in analyzing information accurately. No Homework. Monday will start new novel.
