Second Graders Participate in Live Nativity
Braving bitterly cold temperatures, the second grade classes of St. Michael School in Orland Park recently participated in an outdoor Live Nativity re-enactment at The Children's Farm in Palos Park. On Wednesday, Dec. 9, and again on Tuesday, Dec. 15, students boarded a bus bundled up in their winter gear and headed out for their field trip to the farm.
Once there, the students were outfitted with costumes. Students were dressed as shepherds, wise men, angels, Mary and Joseph. In a beautiful portrayal of the first nativity, the girl dressed as Mary rode a donkey to the manger, the angels brought in baby Jesus, and the shepherds carried in sheep, goats, and chickens to the farm's "Bethlehem." Parents and chaperones in attendance created an audience for the actors and participated in singing Christmas carols that helped tell the blessed story.
Despite the cold weather, everyone felt the warmth of the nativity story as told by these young students.
